COVID-19 has infected million people worldwide and killed hundred thousands.

Nearly half of newly reported cases are from the Americas, with significant numbers from South Asia and the Middle East, according to the World Health Organization.

As the race for a vaccine against the new coronavirus intensifies, some nations which had claimed to have largely controlled the spread of the disease have reported new, local outbreaks.

The holiday industry is considered vital for Greece, which is expected to suffer a recession this year, losing 9% of its output, according to European Commission estimates.

The country received billions in emergency loans to tackle a catastrophic financial crisis, but had to pass sweeping structural reforms and privatizations in return.
